Men's Basketball Bounces into New Year

Cougars Enter Second Half of Season

(Holyoke, MA) - Cougars basketball began the second half of their season this past week, playing a pair of regional home games at the Bartley Center. Holyoke hosted Northern Essex CC on Tuesday and Quincy College on Thursday.

Jacob Santos (Holyoke, MA / Holyoke HS) led the way for the Cougars, picking up right where he left off in the first half of the season. Santos, the Cougars' lone second year player, registered a double-double on Thursday and led all players from either team with 18 points and 14 rebounds. In Tuesday's matchup, he led Holyoke in points with 13 while making one of the most memorable plays of the season. Santos buried a highlight reel nearly full-court shot in the dying seconds of the first half that wowed all in attendance. Santos leads the Cougars in overall points, points per game and assists. Tyrese Christie (Springfield, MA / Baystate Academy) had a pair of impressive outings for Holyoke, tallying a double-double in each contest. On Tuesday, Christie led all players from both teams in rebounds with 13. He leads the Cougars in rebounds and shooting percentage and is second on the team in points. 

Men's basketball starts the second half of their campaign 0-2 and they are 0-11 overall and regionally this season. They will host a trio of home games this week, welcoming regional opponents on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Let's go Cougars!
