
Women’s Basketball Dominant on Senior Day
Lady Cougars Score Season High in Home Victory
(Holyoke, MA) - Women's basketball honored their lone second year player, Angela Bessone (South Hadley, MA / South Hadley HS), with a senior day on Saturday afternoon. After a lovely pregame ceremony, the Lady Cougars put forth a dominant performance, scoring a season-high 62 points on their way to victory. Holyoke opened the game with a 16-0 run, eventually defeating Roxbury CC 62-21.
Bessone showed the way for the Lady Cougars, registering a double-double on her senior day. Bessone scored a season-high 10 points and brought down a season-high 16 rebounds. Emily McGrail (Ware, MA / Ware HS) had another stellar performance in the win, also tallying a double-double. McGrail scored 20 points and grabbed a season-high 24 rebounds. She also had six blocks and continues to lead NJCAA Division III in blocks per game, averaging 6.2. Erin Bullough (South Hadley, MA / South Hadley HS) scored her season-high in points, chalking up 16.
Women's basketball has a 4-7 regional and overall record. They have three games left in their season, all on the road. Holyoke can still sneak into a postseason playoff spot with a few more wins. Let's go Cougars!
