Women’s Soccer Wins Another Against Rival

Soares Leads Lady Cougars Past STCC

(Holyoke, MA) - Women's soccer earned a convincing 5-1 home win over their local rival, Springfield Technical CC, on Wednesday afternoon. The victory is Holyoke's second this season against STCC and their 36th straight against their rival. The Lady Cougars have defeated STCC in every matchup between the sides over the past 15 seasons. This year's Cougars have won their last six games overall. Their ten total wins this year are the most for women's soccer since the 2019 season.

Ariana Soares (Ludlow, MA / Ludlow HS) was a dominant force for the Lady Cougars, scoring an impressive four goals. She notched a pair in each half, including the opening goal in just the third minute of the game. Soares leads Holyoke in points (37) this season and is the team's co-leader in both goals (15) and assists (7). Emma Allyn (Holyoke, MA / Hampshire Regional HS) put forth a stellar offensive performance, scoring a goal and assisting on two others. Madisyn Davis (Ware, MA / Ware HS) tallied a pair of assists. Veronica Roy (Chicopee, MA / Holyoke HS) played a strong game for the Cougars, her best outing of the season.

Women's soccer has a 10-4 overall record and a 5-2 regional record. They have clinched the second place spot in the regional (New England) standings and will be the #2 seed in the New England tournament. Holyoke will close out their regular season with an away game at Bunker Hill CC on Saturday, October 26th at 1pm. They will host a New England tournament semi-final on Thursday, October 31st with the game time and opponent to be announced. Let's go Cougars!
