Volleyball Wins First Game of Home Tri-Match

Cougars Split and Stay Strong in Region

(Holyoke, MA) - Women's volleyball hosted a Region XXI (New England) tri-match on Saturday, squaring off against Quinsigamond CC in their first game and then CC of Rhode Island in their second. The Lady Cougars defeated QCC 3-0 but fell 3-1 to CCRI.

Strong serves helped lead the Cougars to victory in game one as the team registered 30 aces. Khimorah Arias (Springfield, MA / Commerce HS) led the way with seven aces and also had a team-high ten points. Wailanys Rivera Miranda (Puerto Rico / Central HS) served six aces and led in assists with 21. Marlina Devine (Easthampton, MA / Easthampton HS) led the way in kills with seven.

Women's volleyball has a 6-2 regional record and an 8-4 overall record. They are home for their next contest on Tuesday, October 8th at 7pm against Bay Path College. They then host another Region XXI tri-match on Saturday, October 12th starting at 11am. Let's go Cougars!
