Women’s Volleyball Chalks Up Two More Wins

Cougars Stay Hot with Regional Victories

(Haverhill, MA) - Women's volleyball traveled to play a Region XXI (New England) tri-match on Saturday, securing victories in both of their games. The Lady Cougars defeated Bristol CC 3-0 in their first game before a 3-1 win over hosts Northern Essex CC in their second game. 

Gissel Santos (Santo Domingo, DR / Holyoke HS), who has been one of the Cougars' strongest players throughout the season, once again led the charge. Santos was Holyoke's leader in kills, digs and points in each matchup. Over the two contests, she tallied 23 kills, 38 digs and 27 points. Alianiz Bonilla (Springfield, MA / Commerce HS) played a pair of strong games. In game two, Bonilla registered ten kills and 14 points to go along with 11 digs. The Cougars served 18 aces in game one and six different players reached double-digits in digs in game two. 

Women's volleyball has a 5-1 regional record and a 7-3 overall record. Their NJCAA record is 6-1. The Lady Cougars will travel for their next contest before hosting a Region XXI tri-match on Saturday, October 5th beginning at 11am. Holyoke welcomes Quinsigamond CC and CC of Rhode Island for the home tri-match. Let's go Cougars!
