Lady Cougars Steamroll Tough Opponent
Women's Volleyball Gains Retribution
(Concord, NH) – Women's volleyball put forth one of its strongest performances of the season on Thursday evening, defeating non-NJCAA opponent New Hampshire Technical Institute 3-0 in straight-sets. The Lady Cougars were dominant, avenging a straight-set loss they had against NHTI earlier this season. Holyoke played a fierce and inspired game, winning the three sets 25-12, 25-19 and 25-20.
Gissel Santos (Santo Domingo, DR / Holyoke HS) showed the way for the Cougars, leading the team in four stat categories. Santos tallied 16 digs, seven kills, and 13 points while serving six aces. Patience Naylor (Springfield, MA / Putnam HS) and Kelsey Rau (Chicopee, MA / Chicopee HS) were both stellar for Holyoke. Naylor had 12 digs and five kills. Rau was second on the team in digs with her season-high 13.
Women's volleyball improves to 5-3 overall with the win. They have a regional record of 3-1 after dropping a heartbreaker at home on Tuesday. Their NJCAA record is 4-1. Holyoke will travel for their next three contests before hosting a tri-match on Saturday, October 5th beginning at 11am. Let's go Cougars!
