Women’s Soccer Victorious in Regional Opener
Lady Cougars Strong in Road Win
(Taunton, MA) - Women's soccer traveled on Saturday to play in their first Region XXI (New England) game of the year. The Lady Cougars put forth a strong performance, defeating their regional opponent Bristol CC 3-1.
Madisyn Davis (Ware, MA / Ware HS) opened the scoring in the first half, tallying her second goal in as many games. Arianna Soares (Ludlow, MA / Ludlow HS) and Emma Allyn (Holyoke, MA / Hampshire Regional HS) each converted a penalty kick in the second half. Soares's goal, the game-winner, broke a 1-1 tie in the 74th minute. Allyn, who was one of Holyoke's most dangerous players throughout the contest, had the assist on Davis's goal.
Women's soccer improves to 1-1-0 overall after dropping their first game 4-2 against Fashion Institute of Technology (NY). They have a 1-0-0 regional record. Holyoke's next game will be at home on Wednesday, September 11th at 4pm against CC of Rhode Island. The two schools met in the 2023 New England championship game. Let's go Cougars!
