Baseball Wins Third Game in as Many Days
Cougars Stay Hot Split Home Doubleheader
(Holyoke, MA) - The Cougars are playing their best baseball of the season, winning their third game in three days. Holyoke came into Friday's home doubleheader on a two-game winning streak and dropped game one before winning game two against regional opponent CC of Rhode Island. The victory was the Cougar's most decisive of the year; they defeated their opposition 10-4. Holyoke has won three of their past four games after registering just one prior to May.
Travis Kagan (Chicopee, MA / Chicopee HS), who has led the Cougars offensively all season, once again showed the way in the win. Kagan blasted a home run and was 3 for 4 at the plate with three runs and an RBI. Daniel Gauvin (Granby, MA / Granby HS) batted 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI. Leyron Perez (Santiago de los Cabelleros / Sci-Tech HS) and Alex Gochinski (Greenfield, MA / Frontier Regional HS) each drove in three RBIs. Nathan Serrano (Springfield, MA / Chicopee HS) earned the win, pitching a complete game while throwing seven strikeouts.
Men's baseball has a 4-12 regional record and a 4-24 overall record. They close out their regular season this afternoon (Saturday, May 4th), hosting Roxbury CC for a doubleheader beginning at 1pm. Holyoke still has a shot to qualify for post season play with a win or two increasing their chances tremendously. Let's go Cougars!
