Women’s Basketball Season Comes to Close
Lady Cougars Fight to Finish
(Holyoke, MA) - Women's basketball played their final game of the 2023-24 season, closing the campaign with a loss despite a hard-fought performance. The Lady Cougars battled tenaciously in the new year but were unable to replicate the positive results they had produced before the winter break.
Angela Bessone (South Hadley, MA / South Hadley HS) was among the Cougars' strongest performers this season, leading the team in a number of statistical categories. Bessone led the way in points, field goals made, field goal percentage and steals. She was second on the team in assists and third in rebounds. Desiree Doane (New Salem, MA / Franklin Techniacal HS) was another of Holyoke's strongest players, leading the team in free throw percentage, free throws made and assists. She was second in both points and rebounds. Jeneleese Torres (Bronx, NY / Bronxwood Prep Academy) was the Cougars' leader in rebounds and minutes played.
Women's basketball finishes the campaign with a 1-6 overall record and a 1-6 regional record. The highlight of the season was their big 41-32 home victory over Quinsigamond CC on December 12th. Let's go Cougars!
