
Men’s Soccer Clinches Spot in Regional Tournament
Cougars Defeat Quinsigamond in Must-Win Game
(Worcester, MA) Men's Soccer earned a postseason birth and will play in the New England Regional Championship Tournament. The Cougars needed a win in their regular season finale and got just that, defeating Quinsigamond CC by a 3-1 score.
Sidg Dieng (Springfield, MA / Agawam HS) spearheaded the Cougars' offense, scoring a pair of goals in the win. Dieng had Holyoke's first and third goal. Niamke Akpayne (Chicopee, MA / Chicopee Cmprehensive HS) had HCC's second tally, the game-winning goal. Tanner Joseph (Holyoke, MA / Hampshire Regional HS), Sleiden Edmorin (Springfield, MA / Tech Boston Academy) and Colin Leydon (Wilbraham, MA / Minnechaug Regional HS) each contributed to the offense with an assist.
Men's soccer finishes the regular season with a regional record of 3-4-1 and an overall record of 3-5-2. They will enter the New England tournament as the #6 seed and play against the #3 seed on Tuesday, October 23rd. The game time, location and opponent will be announced. Let's go Cougars!
