Baseball Closes Season with Barnburner Doubleheader

Cougars Play Pair of Extra-Inning Games

(Holyoke, MA) - Cougars baseball closed out their season playing a home doubleheader against Quinsigamond CC on Saturday afternoon. Both contests went into extra innings, with Holyoke falling short in both. Despite their strong play, the Cougars lost 5-4 in the extra frame of game one and 12-11 in game two.

Holyoke was led by second year standouts James McGann (Suffield, CT / Suffield HS) and Nicholas Kreuzer (Suffield, CT / Suffield HS) on the season's final day. McGann hit a home run in game one and drove in three RBIs. Kreuzer homered in game two to go along with a double and three RBIs of his own. Kreuzer and McGann end the season tied for the team lead in home runs and were second and third respectively in RBIs. Freshman Travis Kagan (Chicopee, MA / Chicopee Comprehensive HS) finishes the year as the Cougars' leader in batting average, hits, RBIs, doubles, and runs scored.

Baseball finishes the 2023 season with an overall record of 3-22 and a regional record of 3-15. They bid farewell to five outstanding second-year players and hope this season's 12 freshmen return to play in 2024. Let's go Cougars!
