Baseball Earns Second Straight Win

Cougars Heating Up Down the Stretch

(Boston, MA) - Men's baseball won their second straight game on Thursday and second straight on the road against a regional opponent. The Cougars defeated Roxbury CC 16-12, compiling their highest run total of the season and keeping their postseason hopes alive.

Travis Kagan (Chicopee, MA / Chicopee HS) led the way, hitting 4 for 6 with two runs and an RBI. Alex Gochinski (Greenfield, MA / Frontier Regional HS) hit 3 for 6 with three runs and two RBIs. Ian Simpson (Northfield, MA / Pioneer Valley Regional HS) earned the win on the mound, throwing seven strikeouts in eight innings pitched. Mason Barcomb (West Springfield, MA / Agawam HS) came in to pitch in relief in the ninth inning, earning the save.  

Men's baseball improves their regional record to 3-11 and their overall record to 3-23. With four games remaining, the Cougars can sneak into a playoff spot if they can stay hot and earn a few more wins. Holyoke will host a doubleheader against CCRI today beginning at 1pm and another doubleheader tomorrow (Saturday, May 4th) against Roxbury CC, beginning at 1pm. Let's go Cougars!
